The youth group at NPC (Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church) is called Ghiti (pronounced “fish”). It is for youth aged 12-18 and meets every Friday night from 7-10 pm. There is a faith-based discussion time each week, but this does not mean that all of the youth are expected to be “Christian.” We welcome youth from any (or no) faith background. We certainly believe that “Jesus is the way,” but we want to have an informed and intelligent discussion about what you believe as well. We simply want to help youth in our community build community with one another, with a few caring adults and with God, however you might understand “God”.
The rest of the time is generally spent in less structured and informal ways. It might be around the TV over a Wii game or two. It might be an impromptu game of hide-and-seek outside in the dark. It might just be sitting around a table and talking about whatever comes to mind. There are also occasional outings to the corner store for ice cream, or to Brampton or Mississauga for bowling or Laser Quest.
There is no cost for the programme at all, so come on out. You can contact us at info@nassagaweya.com for more information, or check us out on the web at www.nassagaweya.com.
