HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR

 

The Campbellville Community Association (DCCA) is a registered not-for-profit organization that exists for the primary purpose of improving the quality of life in Campbellville and the surrounding area, by representing the interests of the community. The DCCA holds community events, both large and small, throughout the year. To increase community safety, the Association has acquired First Aid Kits and a defibrillator, as well as securing funding for First Aid training of volunteers. The Association requires someone with Health & Safety expertise to manage this equipment in its proper use, and coordinate volunteer training and attendance at Association events.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the proper storage and maintenance of equipment (First Aid kits; defibrillator, etc.).

o   Recommend to the Board of Directors to upgrade, fix, or replace equipment, as required.

  • Ensure adequate DCCA volunteers have First Aid certificates; coordinate training with other organizations in the area that may request it.
  • Review event venues for H&S issues that may have to be addressed prior to the event.

o   Ensure the proper equipment and personnel are made available for the event.

o   Coordinate with St John Ambulance, Milton EMS, or other organizations, as appropriate, for larger events.

o   Ensure compliance with any H&S regulations that may apply to an event.

 

  • Loan out equipment to other not-for-profit organizations, as appropriate
  • Respond to requests for volunteers trained in First Aid, if requested by other organizations

 

Requirements/Skills:

  • Must be a member of the DCCA.
  • Well-organized, with attention to detail.
  • Must have formal First Aid training, and be familiar with basic first aid equipment use.

 

Time Commitment:

  • This is a volunteer position. Ideally, we would like someone willing to consider this role for a 2- or 3-year term, and willing to train their successor.
  • A few hours each month over the course of the year, to maintain equipment and coordinate trained volunteers.
  • Additional time required prior to and during each Association event to ensure health & safety requirements are met.
  • Other activities as you determine and wish to do.

 

This is a new position with the Association.
