Permitting Co-ordinator

The Campbellville Community Association (DCCA) is a registered not-for-profit organization that exists for the primary purpose of improving the quality of life in Campbellville and the surrounding area, by representing the interests of the community. The DCCA holds community events, both large and small, throughout the year. These events are held in a variety of venues, and involve a range of permitting needs, from road closures to permits to serve alcohol. The DCCA requires a volunteer to be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits required for the full range of Association events, from all levels of government and government agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain contact with permitting agencies throughout the year to determine how any regulatory changes may affect the Association’s events.
  • Coordinate with event organizing committees to determine what permits are required for each event.
  • Ensure event committees are aware of, and abide by, all permit terms and conditions at the time of the event.
  • Attend event committee meetings as required, as well as the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Activities:

Work with members of the Events committee to put on a number of social and fund-raising events during the year, as determined by the Board. Events may include the following:

  • Family Skating Party – February (Family Day)
  • Spring social dance (Jeans and Jewels)
  • Celebrate Campbellville – June
  • Golf Tournament – September
  • Oktoberfest or fall social event
  • Tree Lighting ceremony – November
  • Santa Claus Parade – December

Requirements/Skills:

  • Must be a member of the DCCA.
  • Familiarity with writing (permit) applications would be an asset.
  • A friendly and positive manner; ability to coordinate effectively with permitting agencies
  • Well-organized, with attention to detail.

Time Commitment:

  • This is a volunteer position. Ideally, we would like someone willing to consider this role for a 3-year term, and be willing to train their successor.
  • Meetings of the Events committee vary in length but are not longer than 2½ hours for each meeting.  The work commitment immediately before each event is necessarily high, but would vary according to which event is being planned.
  • Other activities as you determine and wish to do.

This is a new position with the Association.
